You Look Mah-ve-lous, Dahling: Food Frolicking in Troy, Ohio
Always elegantly dressed and coiffed, Mimi moves seasonally from place to place, from chenille-covered chair to dressing table to chaise. Today she is holding court and ready for Valentine’s Day. Adoring fans are invited to send her a message. I write, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Mimi. You look mah-ve-lous, dahling.”
Mimi lives in the upscale and affordable consignment shop David Fair on the Square in Troy, Ohio. Troy is a county seat with a population of 25,000. Its downtown is dense with independently owned businesses. No fast-food chains live here. If Mimi is hungry, there are options within a block— a butcher shop, an old-fashioned candy store, a bakery-café, a shop specializing in olive oil and vinegars, and cocktails and classic American fare at The Caroline. Mimi likes her cocktails. “Isn’t Caroline a beautiful name,” she muses. If she ventures a block or two further, she can have a handmade malt and burger at K’s Hamburger Shop that opened for business in 1935 or have a meal at Basil’s.  Between meals, she can browse a bookstore, specialty shops, or even her own home with interior designer David Fair and his wife Marla.
I do declare, with so many food options, I don’t know how Mimi keeps her figure.
